’66 Porto Rocha Colheita

With hints of woodsy leather and a plum rind flavor, this very old porto still delivers a powerful finish.  Enjoying it very much with Triple Creme & Blue Cheese. If you can track it down figure about $ 220, knowing this wine is  5 years younger than me and holding up dam well, priceless!

’09 Annabella Caneros Pinot Noir

This California Pinot Noir has a bit of a punch; spicy on the nose lots of plum and black cherry, earthy on the finish, complex but not overbearing. Good for sipping as well as with a meal. Won’t bust the budget at $15. Cheers!

’09 La Cabotte Cotes Du Rhone Colline

This light and refreshing white blend from Rhone Valley is a 100% Bio-Dynamic wine made with Grenache Blanc, Clairette & Viogner.

Taste of grapefruit and plum make this a great sipping wine, but don’t under-estimate this white it will pair very well with a hearty chicken or fish dish. Consider pouring it for an afternoon brunch as an alternative to Champagne.  2009 Rhone has been noted as an impressive vintage. This is a bargain at $15. Cheers!

Best of Thanksgiving leftovers -’91 Dow

We had no turkey or stuffing leftover, only 1/2 of a wonderful bottle of ’91 Dow Vintage Port.  Please don’t feel sorry for me!  Digging thru the refrigerator I was grateful to also find the remainder of the cheese platter (‘stinky cheese’ as my daughter calls them.)

Watching football on this chilly day, sipping the flowery sweet, round and oh so smooth Port and munching on the Cambazola, Stilton & Triple Cream was a delightful end to this fantastic week with family. Cheers!

Wine cellar suprise!! 2005 Puy Guilhem Fronsac

While digging thru christmas decorations in the wine cellar (yes, that is where we keep them!) my daughter and I cracked open a bottle of 2005 Puy Guilhem Fronsac. This old style earthy wine still needs a bit of time, but I enjoy the firm tannins and fruit this wine presents. Thankfully, I’ve got a bunch stored and I’ll enjoy tasting as it ages. Cheers!

Celebrating life and family thru food and wine!

Pasta Bolognese, almost perfected, paired with 2007 Castle Rock Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The spicy deep ruby wine provided a luscious finish to the velvety rich Bolognese.
