The Sunday Supper movement continues to capture the attention of a wide variety of folks, not just food bloggers and wine lovers. This week we are joined by Merrell, yes the clothing and footwear company! Their philosophy is “We think, live, perform and GET outside!” They asked to join us this week and have asked us to share how we enjoy our time outside with our families.
To thank our readers, they have selected ten bloggers to offer a giveaway of one of their products. I am happy to let you know that Wine Everyday was selected to offer my readers a chance to win this pair of beautiful boots! These look like the perfect boots to wear to a Fall Wine Festival!
My family’s favorite outdoor activities revolve around football tailgates and wine festivals. You can guess which is my favorite! From the time my daughter was about 2 we started bringing her to outdoor food and wine festivals. We live in the Mid-Atlantic region near the Chesapeake Bay, while not California wine-country, there are still plenty of wineries on the East Coast to visit and generally there is something going on every weekend.
Family friendly wine events are a great way to get the kids outdoors to have fun and to relax. So much of our schedule is rush-rush-rush; we sometimes forget to schedule some relaxation time into the week. Sitting back with a glass of wine, listening to music, the kids enjoying face painting, magic shows and grape-stomping are my idea of family relaxation. And, living in the Chesapeake Bay region, there are always crab cakes being served for dinner. This is my favorite way to spend a Sunday with my family. As the years have passed and now that my daughter is all grown up and living on her own, I’m passing on and sharing our tradition with my sister and her family. They live along the Maryland wine trail as well and her boys have become champions at the grape-stomp competitions!
To view up coming wine events in the Mid-Atlantic region visit Maryland Wine and who knows, you may bump into me at one of these events!
Please share with me what you and your family do to celebrate the outdoors, comment below (be sure to leave your twitter handle in your comment so you can be entered!) and join in on Twitter for our #SundaySupper chat at 7pm (Eastern) to be eligible to win!
Increase your chances of winning by visiting the other nine food bloggers who are participating in the contest. Each giving away a different Merrell gift.

Contest Update: Congratulations to @WriteLane for winning this giveaway from Merrell!
I have always wanted to go grape stomping, it sounds way too fun!!! So happy you stopped by my site, it is wonderful to enjoy your lovely blog:-) Hugs, Terra
We would love to go to grape pickings or stompings but have been out of town for all this year. But we will try harder next year!
Our family loves to grill outdoors…that would be the main thing we do. But we also love taking walks and hikes.

We cook out as often as we can and get outside. We take advantage of all that are summers have to offer like swimming, hiking and bike riding @mellanhead
For us, #SundaySupper is a time to sit – block everything else out – and share our day as a family. Sometimes we manage to do that outside. A wine festival seems like my kind of place. 🙂

Oh, I love it! We are huge football tailgating fans (live in a college town) as well as winery festival fans (live close the the SW Michigan wine trail). These are two of our favorite things to do outdoors as a family, as well. I’d love to travel and hit some “new to us” tailgates and festivals! For me, #SundaySupper means embracing old family traditions while creating new ones. @girlichef
we live in college town as well.. Annapolis! We have Navy & Maryland close by as well as all the DC schools! there is always something to do outdoors & our picnic basket is always ready to go!!
Cheers!
I never thought of wineries having family friendly activities! What fun! I hope to check out a wine festival some day 🙂 Happy #SundaySupper!
So many wineries are family run… they have kids too! they want to engage the whole family.
Cheers!
Agreed! unless there is crisis at work, we don’t answer phones or anything else. Now it’s just me and hubby we still hold to those traditions. Dinner together, not eat & run..
Cheers!

I have always thought it would be fun to stomp on grapes. I played a part in a play in high school my character had purple feet from grape stomping but it wasn’t real I just spray painted my feet. My mom wasn’t happy. We like to garden and then have picnics outside. You cannot get closer to nature than that!
Would love to have a Grape – Stomp challenge with you one day!
let me know when you’ll be in the Annapolis area!
Cheers!

Do you know where I can purchase The Little Green Box on Long Island ?
Hi MK!
If your wine shop carries Don Sebastiani & Sons products, they would most likely be able to carry the Pepperwood Pino Grigio Tetra Pak.
Cheers & Thanks for stopping by!

The grape stomp is so much fun! Where I go at Blue Mountain Winery, they even give you a “Lucy” dress if you want! lol
That is hysterical! I could probably be convinced to put on the Lucy dress!
Cheers!

Lovely post Eileen! Nice to see wine festivals are not just for adults.
My daughter had an ‘official wine festival dress’ an adorable purple seersucker dress with grapes on the collar. She loved going to wine festivals. And, now that she’s all grown up, well, she’s enjoying them on an entirely different level!!
Cheers!
